Season 29 of Dancing With the Stars is starting to look a little predictable. For the longest time, figure skater Johnny Weir has been the favorite.
Right behind him is Kaitlyn Bristowe, though, and the two have been flip-flopping lately when you look at the latest DWTS odds.
I say it’s predictable because everything seems to be leading to one of them winning this season. I predicted it would be Bristowe before the season started, and I don’t see much reason not to stick to my guns.
Heck, I even broke down why Johnny Weir won’t win Dancing With the Stars. He’s the likely winner if it’s not Bristowe, but there is logic in betting on her – or someone else – to win.
Seven weeks are in the books, which means now may be the time to finalize your wagers for season 29. Let’s first look at the latest DWTS odds and then hit on some highlights in our week 8 Dancing With the Stars betting update.
Johnny Weir is the favorite to win, yet again. Kaitlyn Bristowe overtook him at the top entertainment betting websites for a moment, but he’s back on top.
His odds are different depending on where you bet on Dancing With the Stars, but he’s the top pick virtually everywhere. Bristowe remains his most likely competition, of course, and the odds certainly do reflect that.
There have been some changes in the pricing, though, so we definitely need to keep an eye on some emerging threats.

Nev Schulman Dominated Week 7
I mentioned that Johnny Weir and Kaitlyn Bristowe might have some competition. I wasn’t lying.
Obviously you can see it with his killer +225 DWTS odds now, but Catfish star Nev Schulman is suddenly a very real threat to win this thing.
He also dazzled with a score of 30 in week seven, completely owning the competition with a borderline flawless Paso doble dance to “Swan Lake Remix”.
Schulman wasn’t really on my radar before season 29 kicked off, and despite previously cracking the top-three if five of the first six weeks, I still didn’t pay much attention.
I’m doing so now. Nev now has the highest average score of anyone this season, and he and dancing partner Jenna Johnson have consistently been very good.
Cheryl Burke is Tough
This was almost a lowlight for week seven, but hats off to Cheryl Burke, who powered through a nasty spill during dance rehearsal.
It’s always scary when a head injury takes place, but dance partner AJ McLean was with her every step of the way, and helped her through it.
Burke powered through and danced in week seven despite the fall, and she and AJ tied for the third-best score (26). McLean is still a mild darkhorse to stage the upset this season, and it doesn’t hurt to have a total badass working with him.
Things are about to get real serious in a hurry on Dancing With the Stars season 29. If you’re wondering who to bet on to win this season, now is the time to strike.

The field is going to shrink by two more dancers this week, which means two things. First, the number of options to actually bet on will be reduced drastically. Second, the pricing up top won’t be nearly as friendly.
Dancing With The Stars Betting Odds For Today
Weir is the odds on favorite, Bristowe is his biggest threat, and Schulman is waiting to pounce. If you’re going to bet on Dancing With the Stars, you probably want to target one of those celebrities before the odds move again.
Week 8 is also a pretty big deal just because of the drama aspect. Like, who will be eliminated on Dancing With the Stars this week? That’s got to be a burning question, especially with all eyes fixated on reality TV with the World Series finally over.
Early indications are that Jeannie Mai, Chrishell Stause and Justina Machado could compete for elimination, but we can’t rule out a curveball. After all, as much as I like Bristowe, she did finish dead last in week seven.
Shots Fired at Kaitlyn Bristowe
Speaking of Bristowe, we really need to keep an eye on her, as Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba criticized her, suggesting she “gave up” this past week.
The harsh critique reportedly devastated Bristowe, and it’s worth wondering if she’ll be able to bounce back and prove Ann Inaba and any of her critics wrong.
When I offered my Dancing With the Stars predictions earlier this year, Bristowe stood out due to her personality, affiliation with ABC and The Bachelor, and her known dancing background.
How To Read Betting Odds
However, with a slight step backward and thoughts that she may not have the mentality to stay near the top of this competition, bettors have something to think about.
The big takeaway for me is the rise of Nev Schulman.
He’s been as consistent as anyone, he got a 30 last week, and he now has the highest average score. He is very much a problem for anyone who has bet on Weir or Bristowe to this point.
I didn’t love what I saw from Bristowe this past week, either.
The performance wasn’t great for her, and if there are any thoughts of doubt creeping in, we could have a problem. I’ll stand by my pick for another week, but Weir is obviously right up there with her, and Schulman is suddenly worth considering when betting on this show.
I don’t really think anyone else has a chance. AJ McLean is the only viable bet remaining from my early look at Dancing With the Stars season 29 sleepers, but even his appealing odds don’t move the needle much for me anymore.
Dancing With The Stars Betting Odds Wild Card
For the most part, you’re looking at three viable dancers who can win season 29, and you just need to pick who you like the most. I’d do it soon, of course, as Double Elimination week waits for no one, and before you know it, the pricing will be a lot less rewarding.
